I want to change my Apple ID from a fingerprint to a password
Hi Debhow1590,
It seems you're trying to switch from using Touch ID to a password and we want to help.
Your Apple ID is always tied to a password, but you can optionally authorize purchases with your Touch ID. If that's what you have set up, you can remove that by turning off Touch ID for the App Store:
This information is outlined in our Touch ID article:
Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad
If you're trying to remove Touch ID for unlocking your iPhone itself and would prefer to only use a passcode, on the same screen in Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, tap each fingerprint and delete them. That should force your iPhone to use the passcode each time you unlock it.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
