I was trying to activate the left and right corner swipe to start a screenshot and a quick note, but I am not able to change the button that is shown.
Now I must say that also an Apple Pencil is attached. Could that be a point?
And with the pencil it is possible to use the gestures.

You have evidently enabled Stage Manager.
The finger-swipe corner gestures are not available when Stage Manager is enabled - however, the Pencil corner gestures remain accessible while Stage Manager is active.
As such, currently, finger-swipe corner gestures and Stage Manager are mutually exclusive features. If you need to use the former, the latter must be disabled.
