Calendar Search not working on iPhone

The search function in the calendar app no longer works. No matter what I search I get “no events”. Does anyone know how to get this back? The events are still in the calendar, they just aren’t found using the search option.

I was just on the phone with Apple support about this same issue and here is the fix that they gave me that worked: Settings>Mail>Account (select the correct account)>Calendar

then toggle OFF calendar. It asks if you want to delete the account and you accept. After about a minute, toggle it back on, and the calendar entries will start repopulating, and the search function will start working. Depending on how many calendar entries you have, it will take a while to update, but I have thousands and it updated in less than one hour. Search function works again.

Rather than Apple fixing the calendar so one can search or fixing the worst auto correct known to any device. They would rather update their emojis and other inconsequential functions. What does this say about a company that is in the business of communication and the basics of communication is getting harder and harder to on a device because of bugs they don’t fix ? Like searching and typing a coherent sentence. This says a lot about this company. Their phone is getting unusable.

Also the fact that the iPhone form factor has stayed the same while other companies are making creative strides. It is getting a bit bizarre and truthfully embarrassing for them. How long can Apple ride the coat tails of the genius founders. Think different 😂

I tried this fix and it did not work for me on iphone 13 and IOS 16.1.1. That said maybe I did not understand how to turn off calendars in the icloud. All I could do was untick them in the calendar window...

I turned them off on the phone via mail and deleted them from the phone. I went to icloud and unticked the calendars. Turned all back on in phone and then went back to icloud and reticked them. Maybe the icloud bit is not the right way to do it?

I have the same problem on just 1 Mac M1 Max - on every other device including this M1 Max -- ALL the calendar entries are present but on the on the M1 Max - the search in the calendar is not working properly.

Have called Apple support - they had no idea how to fix this.

I could try the mail account as suggested but being on the Mac it may be different?
