How do I include a .png image in a Mac Mail e-mail
message sent via Yahoo so that it will be seen embedded in the text instead of an attached file by PC recipients of the message?

You have no control over how the Recipient's e-mail application will render the image.
By the image you send as Embedded or file attachment - no control of their Application will display the image
