Screen time not stopping app at the time limit

The screen time function is not stopping apps at the requested time limit. See the screenshots below and specifically the YouTube app. I clearly have the limit set to 1 hour and it’s set to block at the end of the limit yet it’s gone 32 minutes past the limit. How is this happening? It seems like I’ve set everything up the way should.

Hello inmyrvm,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help get Screen Time working as expected with the YouTube app.

Since it appears you have this setup correctly, let's make sure your software is fully updated to help resolve an issue. This Apple Support page can help get those updates installed: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

You can also check for any updates to the YouTube app. If the issue continues, delete the App Limit and then add it back again, just how you have it added here.

We hope this helps to resolve the software issue so the App Limit is working when it should at the 1 hour mark.

Cheers!

Hi inmyrvm,

Thanks for letting us know. Just to confirm, is YouTube the only affected app? If so, try going through these steps here, testing after each step: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open. These steps can help troubleshoot the app itself and it may resolve how it reports to Screen Time. We have pasted the step below for your convenience:

"1) Quit and reopen the app

Quit the app, then open it again. If the app won't quit, force the app to quit. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

2) Restart your Mac

Restart your Mac. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

3) Check for updates

To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, then click Updates. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your Mac. Or if you didn't get the app from the App Store, look for updates to the app on the app developer's website. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

4) Reinstall the app

Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. If you didn't get the app from the App Store, redownload the app on the app developer's website. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed."

Keep us updated!
