Macbook stolen/lost in transit

I need advice on how to take this issue further, it's a bit of a long read but bear with me.

TL:DR I bought a Macbook Pro M2 in September, the box was delivered empty. DHL say it's Apple's problem, Apple have said DHL aren't cooperating with the investigations (they've been three so far) and they've closed the investigation.

Apple are now telling me to ask the police to call Apple and the gentleman on the phone, as helpful as he's being, just kept saying that the police will have a special number to call (not 0800 048 0408) which I do not believe.

If you've got the time to read it all, here we go. The full saga is in the additional text (never used this before).

So now I'm here, two months down the line. Apple tell me to contact DHL, DHL tell me to contact Apple, no one is taking responsibility. I've just contacted the Police to tell them to contact this 'secret number' that the Apple agent couldn't divulge and I'm prepared for them to ask me 'what number' and me to spend more time on the phone to Apple. This lack of responsibility should be a worry for anyone ordering directly from Apple, the attitude that as soon as the item is out of the distribution centre's doors, it's not their problem.

I'm not willing to let this go and will go as far as possible and so I turn to the community, no doubt some of you have been through this.

What do I do next?

  • Update as of 1 minute ago! The Police have got back to me, they are not aware of any special numbers to contact Apple.

We are other users here and in cases like this, our opinons or advice are not hepful. You need to work with police and get some legal advice. My understanding is that the shipper is responsible once they take possession, but I am not a lawyer and do not work for Apple or the shipper.

You should communicate in writing so you have a record to show if needed.
