I solved the problem!

I had selected “Download All Songs” in the Clock, Alarm app, but it turns out it didn’t actually download it. When I went to the Music app, selected my song, downloaded it, I was able to get the alarm to play the song I wanted.

Hi iBroffman,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! To change the sound for your alarm, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Clock app.
  2. Tap the Alarm tab.
  3. Tap the Add button  to create a new alarm, or select the alarm that you want to edit.
  4. Select Sound and choose your song preference from the list, or select 'Pick a song' to choose from your library.

Selecting a song there will change your alarm sound to your selection. Keep in mind, each alarm has its own options so if you want a certain song for all alarms, you'll have to adjust each alarm. Find more about alarm settings here: How to set and change alarms on your iPhone.

Hope that helps!

I'm experiencing the same issue. No matter what song I select it only plays the default alarm sound.

Device info: iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 16.1.1

This issue has been going on since before updating to iOS 16 as well.

Even tried selecting a song that was downloaded to device but issue still persist.

The song has the check mark next to it like it's going to play when the alarm goes off but it doesn't.
