Macbook Pro stuck loading bar after login

Hello,

My laptop crashed all of a sudden, and when I restarted it and entered my login password, it got stuck on the loading bar halfway through.

I waited a really long time, but nothing happened. Then I tried booting into safe mode, but that failed too.

Then I tried to reset PRAM/NVRAM, but that didn’t help either.

I then went into Recovery Mode, to run Disk Utility, but when I run First Aid on “Macintosh HD” (volumes), I get the following error:

I have around 60GB free space left from the 2TB, if this could be any issue…

I also have a “Macintosh HD” and “Macintosh HD - Data” volume, from which the former was unmounted (or maybe First Aid unmounted it on the initial run… I don’t know exactly)

When I try to run First Aid on the Data volume separately, I get a “-69565” error code like this:

When I try to run First Aid on the other “non Data” volume (APFS System Volume), I get this other error message (-69673) which is a bit more explanatory:

Would love to know what happened with my laptop…

It appears that either your Mac's internal drive is corrupted or is failing. One option is to run Apple Diagnostics to see if it can uncover anything amiss in addition to the drive itself.

Thank you for taking your time and replying in my topic, but sadly nothig came up in the Diagnostics. No issues were found.

After I came back into Disk Utility, I noticed that my Data volume was unmounted, maybe during the diagnostics procedure. It was never mounted back.

Without being able to perform any further diagnostics, it would be impossible to determine exactly what may be amiss with your laptop's internal drive. SSDs can fail, and do so unexpectedly. However, I would not expect as much for 2019 or 2021 (you didn't mention which) 16" MBP.

Normally, if I can boot up my Mac to the desktop, I would use DriveDX to get a "complete picture" of the health of my Mac's drive.

One possibility would be to boot up your Mac using an external bootable startup drive. See if the following post, specifically HWTech's replies:

Little update: I can see my folder structure and files from Disk Utility’s “New Image from Folder” option. I am preparing an external HDD for an emergency file backup, but I would still like to resolve this issue with Disk Utility / Terminal, so I can create a normal Time Machine backup.

Any idea why Disk Utilty and First Aid is failing on my device?
