I have t used my iPad in a while 6 months plus. I’m trying to charge it but a light is not coming on. I’ve checked the charger and it works fine. Please advise

I haven’t used or charged my I pad in over 6 months. The charger is working but there is no light red or green. Is there something I need to do so it will charge?

If the battery died during the 6 months while you weren't using it, it may take a while for the iPad to 'see' the charger. I would leave it plugged in and check back in an hour or two. If it doesn't come back then take it to a Apple Store or a Authorized Service Center

Hope this helps.

If this iPad has not been charged up and used for 6 months and the battery is fully and completely drained, depending on the age of this iPad, the battery may still have a chance to spring back to life.

Leave the iPad plugged into its power/charging adapter from anywhere from 12 to 36 hours to see if charging and charge up capability of the the internal rechargeable Lithium-ion battery will return, or not.

12 to 36 hours on mains power will give you the answer as to whether, or not, the internal battery is truly dead.

If this iPad has not had a charge in a long time a few hours is not enough time to know if the battery has truly died/failed, or not.

How old is this iPad?

Apple Store locations, for the most, do NOT repair iPads.

To expedite quick and speedy customer service, Apple stores only do in/out-of-warranty device replacement.

For battery service, iPad replacement is done in lieu of an actual, physical teardown in order to perform an actual battery replacement.

Depending on the age of your iPad such a device replacement Apple Store locations may, or may not, be able to offer a replacement iPad, of your exact model, for the battery replacement service.

Not sure what Apple Store locations do when there is no replacement device inventory for a particular Apple mobile device model.

Battery replacement for iPads is $99 U.S.D., plus tax.

So, depending on how old this iPad is, a $99 U.S.D. battery replacement cost may not be practical.

Especially for any Apple mobile device that may no longer be supported by Apple and is consideted a vintage or obsolete device.

You need to use the “Get Support” link, in the top black menu bar, at the upper right hand corner of every Apple Support Community Webpage to attempt to schedule an appointment with your nearest Apple Store location to schedule a battery diagnisis and replacement for that iPad

Apple Store employees will be glad to help/assist you.
