Transferring files from old iPad to backup
When I use the extra cloud storage offered to me to help in transferring file from old iPad to new - are the files erased from old iPad or do they remain

Nothing is moved or erased from the source iPad. Instead your data and files are copied from the old device to iCloud storage - and from there to new device.
