How do I change a name in family sharing?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you'd like to change the name of a family member in Family Sharing. We'd like to help.

While there is not a way to change the name from the Family Sharing Settings page, you can do it from the person's personal device or by signing into their Apple ID at Manage your Apple ID. The name that accompanies their Apple ID will be what is shown in Family Sharing.

If you're trying to do it on a specific device, you can do the following steps:

1. Open Settings
2. Tap your name
3. Choose Name, Phone Numbers, Email
4. Tap your name
5. Change to preferred first name
