Getting step count from a golf workout

I saw this post from a while back Apple Watch golf workout activity doesn't… - Apple Community and i am gobsmacked that watchOS 9 STILL does not seem to track steps as part of the golf work out? Am i missing a customization? I dont want to use outdoor walk as the workout since i want to know the activities i have done over time. This sounds like about 10 lines of code to do and uber obvious to provide. Does this go in the enhancement bucket????

Hello Tkadela,

You can check to see if steps are available as a metric for the Golf workout by following the steps in this article: Use the Workout app on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Change the metrics for each workout
On your Apple Watch, open the Workout app.
1. Tap the More button the ... icon next to the workout that you want to do.
2. Tap the Edit button next to the goal .
3. Tap Workout Views, then tap Edit Views.
4. Tap Include to add the metric to your Workout View. You can also tap the Edit button next to a metric, then select a metric to edit.
5. Depending on the type of workout, you can include metrics such as:
Heart Rate
Power
Segments
Splits
Elevation
Pace
Cadence
Distance
Duration
Vertical Oscillation
Running Stride Length
Ground Contact Time
You can also tap Reorder, then touch and hold the Change Order button the accordion icon to change the order.

If distance or steps isn't an option for this specific workout, feel free to leave Apple feedback here:
