HomeKit Automations not working (again)

Same problem here. Test of automations work fine but not automations actually work on their own. Time of day, Motion sensors, if an accessory is controlled…none of the triggers work.

This appears to be a new problem for me but also appears not to be isolated to me.

Apple, fix your systems.

Same problem here .. frankly I'm underwhelmed . doesn't Apple test anything anymore? They are getting fat and bloated and no longer care if stuff works or not seemingly. Apple are the new Microsoft :(

Your lucky. I’ve tried that multiple times with no luck. Some of my automations work and some don’t no matter what I do.

Any updates from watchers?

“Test” works fine. I hadn’t connected the issue with iOS 16, but that’s totally the case.

I have 2x Apple TVs and 2x HomePod Minis so I know it’s not an issue with a HomeKit hub not being available at the specified time.

Same here, no problems until I edited previously used automations. Deleted the old automation, set up a new one, and back to working again. Super frustrating since our Christmas lights are tied to automation, so looks like I’ll be doing the process over again in January.

Spoke too soon. Noticed again today that my outdoor camera triggers to turn on porch lights and outdoor Christmas lights didn’t work. Neither did the trigger on the door lock work to turn those on.

This time, disabling/re-enabling Home Hub on AppleTV did nothing, even after multiple reboots.

I ended up having to sign out of home cloud, which disconnected my iPhone Remote, then rebooting and signing in again and another reboot, adding AppleTV to Home and another reboot. Initially, this didn’t seem to do anything as timers and triggers still didn’t work. After about 5-10 minutes, a timer I had set finally triggered the Christmas tree lights inside to turn on.

Apple, home automation, especially related to home security, is useless if it is this unreliable. Fix your S.

Thanks for the tip wallyH60 about deleting old automation. I use Home+ which lets me duplicate automations. Noticed recently that my motion sensors weren’t turning on my indoor Christmas lights. Once I duplicated my old automation and then deleting it, they work again!

I had the same problem. Tried many things. The last thing I tried that solved the problem was to delete the automations, power off the AppleTV for 1 hour (duration was more of an accident than intentional), power it back on, and recreate the automations.

I have the same problem.

I started a new automation and deleted the old one. Seems to work ok now.

Working for me now.

I had to disable HomeKit on AppleTV, reboot, re-enable and reboot again. Only after all steps were completed did automations start working again.

Not great.

Same.. 1 apple tv 4k and 6 little speakers. Scheduled Automations (only) stopped working a few days ago…
