Why did iCloud Drive suddenly start to upload the contents of my hard drive? Make it stop! No, I do not want to purchase more storage, as I have plenty on my computer!

iCloud seriously is the stupidest thing My computer hard drive, which is way too small for this machine, keeps getting full and a large reason for this is that the iCloud (that storage that's supposed to be online in the cloud) takes up a big chunk of my hard drive space. I discovered this previously and stopped paying for the extra space and even turned off the iCloud and it just kept loading things into it! Then, on top of that, I have these other chunks of data that I can't even get into to access and have no way of sorting and cleaning. I'm to the point where I have gotten so disgusted with Apple and these antics that I'm just ready to go PC. Please tell me there's some way to actually clean this hard drive and run my programs or I swear I'm done with Apple.

Stop iCloud Automatic Downloads w/Optimize Mac Storage off? How do I turn on iCloud Drive on my MBP without it automatically downloading files? Why does it do this? My files are completely uploaded to iCloud and I would like to be able to browse in Finder without it automatically downloading files, then choosing what I would like to download. I have "Optimize Mac Storage" off When I turn iCloud on it begins automatically downloading a bunch/most/all of my files Currently have 2TB iCloud, currently using ~ 700 GB MBP is 1TB Currently turned iCloud Drive off to stop this process Home internet data caps make this issue more frustrating. Any help is appreciated.

iCloud Storage Discrepancy? In order to trim down my iCloud storage, I compared the reported usage of 71 Gigs in my iCloud Drive storage: with the reported sizes of my iCloud Documents, Desktop and other assorted files in the finder window. The reported size is about 46 gigs: What accounts for the 25 gig difference? Note that photos, messages and other apps are already accounted for below the iCloud drive contents. The iCloud Drive contains only Desktop, Documents (no music, photos, etc) and a few other items.

Anything in iCloud Drive will sync to iCloud. And, if you enabled desktop and documents, all of those files will sync as well
