No HomeKit Notifications when I‘m away from home

Good morning everyone,

Since 6 or 7 months I have a problem on HomeKit notifications.

I have an Eve cam and Eve door sensors and I set notifications when I’m away from home but they don’t work on the app.

if I change notifications options on “when I am at home” and I am actually there, I get the notifications.

I did a reset on all sensors, the cam, the Apple TV (4th generation) and setted notifications on another iPhone but the result didn’t change.

The location of my home in Maps is correct.

Is there any fix about this problem? Has anyone had the same bug?

Thank you

Stefano

Hello stefanooo,

To get notifications for your HomeKit and Matter accessories when you're not at home, you can set up a home hub. Please check out the following link, which has some great information about notifications for your smart home accessories, and maybe helpful: Get notifications for your smart home accessories

Get started

Add smart home accessories to the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
Update your iPhone or iPad to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. To use the Home app on Mac, update your Mac to the latest version of macOS.
• To get notifications for your HomeKit and Matter accessories when you're not at home, set up a home hub.

If you want to set your Apple TV as a home hub, please check out the details from this link, which will guide you through that process and may help: Set up your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub

Set up Apple TV as a home hub

Apple TV* automatically becomes a home hub when you add it to HomeKit.

1. Open Settings on Apple TV.
2. Select Users and Accounts. Make sure your name is selected under Default User and that you're signed in to iCloud with the Apple ID that you used to set up your HomeKit and Matter accessories in the Home app.
3. Go back to Apple TV Settings, then select AirPlay and HomeKit.
4. Scroll down and select Room, then choose a room or add a new room.

Thanks!

Stefano,

Let's make sure the specific motion is set to notify you correctly. This can help with notifications. To make sure notification are set, use these steps:

1. On the Home tab, tap the More button, then tap Home Settings.
2. Tap Cameras & Doorbells.
3. Tap the camera for which you’d like to configure notifications.
4. Tap Notifications, then turn on Activity Notifications.

All HomeKit-compatible cameras can send a notification when motion is detected. HomeKit Secure Video cameras can additionally send notifications based on these factors:

• The time of day
• When someone is or isn’t home
• When a clip is recorded
• When any or a specific motion is detected

When you choose a specific motion, you receive a notification when the camera detects people, animals, or vehicles, or when a package is delivered. For a package to be detected, it must be within the camera’s view after delivery.

Tip: Choosing a specific motion, rather than any motion, results in fewer clips (and fewer clip notifications) and less video to review. For example, if you choose to detect people, your camera doesn’t capture the movement of leaves on a tree or a squirrel leaping from branch to branch.

Additional information is here Set up security cameras in Home on iPhone - Apple Support.

Take care.

Hello Britanny1416,

thanks for your response.

I had already set up my Apple Tv (4th gen) as an hub and I already activated notifications on the app but they don’t work since about 6 months.

Before this period there wasn’t any problem because I received notifications ( if I was away from home) when the cam detected the motion of my cat or my wife.

Thanks

Stefano
