Time machine doesn't work

Hello! I have OS Ventura installed on an external SSD drive. When I try to make a backup (on an external disk) after a few minutes the computer crashes... how can I fix it?

Just to confirm; you have two external drives connected, one for macOS, and one for Time Machine, correct? What is the manufacturer and model of both external drives?

Have you attempted creating a Time Machine backup in Safe mode? Safe mode can help you to determine whether an issue is caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up.

Intel processor

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
  2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

Yes, there are two HD connected.

The disk where the OS Ventura is an Samsung SSD 870 EVO in a case connected via usb-c

The backup disk is WD My Passport HDD

I followed your suggestion. I did the backup in safe boot... it did it normally.

Restarting in the normal mode it is as if it had unlocked ... and everything works! I do not know why.

Thanks so much, you've been a great help to me.
