Apple Mail - ...@icloud.com email address

I have seen this question before - at least I think I've seen it before (the answers are never relevant to what I think the question is, though!) To put it in the most simple language I can:

I have a mac.

)n that mac is an application - and email client called "Mail".

I have set up an email address in "Mail" that I use regularly (it's actually my business email).

I may have also set up the an .....@icloud.com address (but I don't think I did).

I see no point in this ...@icloud.com email address - it is not used (and if it was I'd use another email client or access it through "iCloud" itself - "Mail" is for my business emails).

I would like to remove the @icloud.com email address from "Mail". but when I try to do so I am warned that "this iCloud ID (which is my personal email address) is used in other applications" ..... to be clear, my icloud.com email address is NOT my iCloud ID.... and that I can remove it is "Internet accounts".... but there's no option there....

I went to "internet accounts" in system preferences and deleted the "icloud account".

I then went to Mail and the account was either gone or I could remove it.

However - as soon as I went to system preferences and turned icloud on (I use it very sparingly with "Notes") - and then checked Mail again - the username for icloud was in Mail again.... and again it cannot be removed.

Must be some brain fart "offering" by a certified Apple moron .... who cannot conceive someone might actually prefer to use an email client application for his/her actual email address (instead of a username).

Your Apple ID is say example1@gmail.com that is signed in Mac system preferences , you cant delete another mail address say example1@icloud.com from Mac mail > internet accounts as the is Apple ID account is erased from the server and don't exist , may be this id is still utilised with other applications on other devices synced with primary Mac , see the complete steps in the article How to delete your Apple ID account - Apple Support

"Remove email accounts in Mail on Mac" is the "normal" process - but I do get the "account is used by other apps on your Mac, you’re asked to remove the account in Internet Accounts System Preferences." However, if I go to "Internet accounts" there is no option for "Mail" - it is not listed.

One of the very few "icloud" options I use is to synchronise "notes" on my mac and iphone (which I use to make up "shopping lists") - is this is causing this email address to appear in "mail"?

The account is not set up look up your mail settings Mail - Official Apple Support enter the credentials inside the fields , click on drop down arrow of outgoing mail account ( none ) , select iCloud from it iCloud Mail server settings for other email client apps - Apple Support

Change Outgoing server settings in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

The account has to be set up , then only it can be removed from system preferences > internet accounts ( by clicking on subtract sign ) , regarding the last part of screen shot , your iPhone or iPad is signed in with same Apple ID and password on the same network , no inbuilt applications , safari , iCloud Keychain is turned as on " why " turn it on Sign in to iCloud on all your devices - Apple Support

The iCloud Keychain is turned as on Set up iCloud Keychain and iCloud Passwords on all your devices - Apple Support

Your first part of screen shot shows POP account , it's not an IMAP account , the POP account is to be removed from web account , if iCloud account is also configured then some IMAP account must be shown in internet accounts in reality it's not ask your internet service provider to remove or disable the account from their server then only you can set up IMAP account Add email accounts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support , after that when mail accounts are configured , in that condition they can be removed Remove email accounts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support
