iCloud gives my 5 GB space, but it sync my whole desktop, 33GB, without my permission. Why does this happen? Why there is not easy settings what I select which folder to be selected?

My desktop has all my personal and work stuff. I never want to send those files to apple. but apple gets them without my permission and doesnt give me change to select which folder to be synced.

how that is possible to sync 33GB data even tough I am given 5 GB space in iCloud?

Hello acayir,

It looks like you have a question regarding iCloud Drive, specifically at what's being sync'd to your iCloud Drive and what isn't. From your screenshot, it looks like your Desktop folder is being sync'd to your iCloud Drive. You may want to change that so folders aren't being sync'd automatically.

Take a look at this article with steps here:

Upload and download files from iCloud Drive on iCloud.com - Apple Support

"Upload files

In iCloud Drive on iCloud.com, do either of the following:

  • Drag files from the desktop or a folder window on your computer to the iCloud Drive window or a folder icon in the iCloud Drive window.
  • If you drag to a folder icon, it becomes highlighted to confirm that the item you’re dragging will go into the folder.
  • Click the File Upload button in the iCloud Drive toolbar, select the files you want to upload, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Some apps, like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, have their own folders in iCloud Drive. You can only upload a file into an app’s folder if the app can open the file."

Regards.

Hi acayir,

It shouldn't allow you to put more than 5 GB of data on iCloud if you're on the standard plan. If you do need to delete files you can follow these steps:

"

Mac

  1. Open the Finder and go to the iCloud Drive folder.
  2. Drag an item to the Trash, or move it to a different folder on your Mac.
  3. Open Trash, then right-click the files that you want to delete.
  4. Select Delete Immediately. Then click Delete to confirm.

Windows

On a PC with Windows 7 or later, you can manage your iCloud Drive files using Windows Explorer. Use these steps to add an iCloud Drive folder to Windows Explorer:

  1. Download and install iCloud for Windows.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. Turn on iCloud Drive.
  4. Go to the iCloud Drive folder.
  5. Select the folders or files that you want to delete.
  6. Click Delete.

"

This information is found in this article: Manage your iCloud storage

Take care.
