My boyfriend changed his phone number recently and now my phone is confused. When his old number got disconnected, my phone deleted his contact and just had the old number in my iMessages. Due to this happening, I was forced to create a new contact for him, but somehow Siri knows that this new number is him? every time he calls or messages it says: “Maybe: Luis” instead of my new contact name for him. It also randomly deletes the new contact and shows our more recent messages under the old number, or it will add his old number to the new contact.. not sure what’s going on.

If your BF is an iPhone user then Siri will try to link him, and if you both have your Apple ID selected in Messages settings then you will continue to get his messages in the same thread.

If he is an Android user then a new number looks like it is from a new person.

If you both are iPhone users then both of you do this

Set up imessage and facetime after change of number.

Settings, Messages, Turn off iMessage

Settings, Face Time, Turn off Face Time

Restart the phone.

Settings, Messages, Turn on iMessage, SMS, MMS

Settings, Messages, send & Receive, select your Apple ID which should now be there.

Settings, Face Time, Turn on Face Time
