Waze and car play

Up until a few months ago on car play Waze would display a distance countdown to any speed cameras, but now all of a sudden the visual has changed and just says speed camera with no countdown. It’s happened in a friends car on her iPhone and car play too. However if I use Waze without CarPlay it’s the traditional display with proper distance countdown. It appears then to be a CarPlay not Waze issue but any help gratefully received pls

Hello Psmulovitch,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Which iOS version is currently installed on your iPhone? You can find this information under: Settings > General > About.

Do you recall anything changing on your device around the time this issue started?

We have some great steps available that will possibly resolve the issue. Please complete all the steps listed here:

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, learn what to do.

First, make sure that your country or region supports CarPlay and that your car supports CarPlay. If you're unsure if your car supports CarPlay, contact the vehicle manufacturer.
Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps — checking CarPlay after each step:
1- Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
• If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
• If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.
2- If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.
3- Restart your iPhone and your car.
4- Make sure that Siri is on.
5- If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
6- Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
7- Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.
If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support.

Thanks for this. Carplay works. no issue. However when connected to carplay, waze shows up but when approaching speed cameras, Waze shows distance, whereas all of a sudden it now just says speed camera without it showing the distance to the camera. When not connected to carplay it shows it normally but connected to carplay the display is now different but carplay works. So carplay not necessarily the issue other than has had an impact with waze display. just to be clear, carplay does work i just want the proper distance display back that happens when not connected to carplay
