Watch complications not showing minus temperature

For some reason my watch will not show minus in front of temperature when using Modular watch face. In this example the temperature is currently -2 celsius, Watch is showing 2 (without the -).

When I change to Chronograph Pro or Metropol the temperature is displayed correctly.

I have the same sub complication under weather on all 3 watch faces.

If I change to Carrot app complication the temperature will display as -2 in Modular.

Anyone else experienced this?

Hello Chrisk_85,

It sounds like your temperature complication on the Apple Watch isn't working well with the Modular watch face, right? You're seeing this only with the Apple Weather app as well.

Since it is working with other watch faces, have you tried to create a new Modular face and add the temperature complication? Perhaps also try placing the complication at a different location? Follow the steps here:

Customize the watch face - Apple Support

"Add complications to the watch face

You can add special features—called complications—to some watch faces, so you can instantly check things like stock prices, the weather report, or information from other apps you installed.

  1. With the watch face showing, touch and hold the display, then tap Edit.
  2. Swipe left all the way to the end.
  3. If a face offers complications, they’re shown on the last screen.
  4. Tap a complication to select it, then turn the Digital Crown to choose a new one—Activity or Heart Rate, for example.
  5. When you’re finished, press the Digital Crown to save your changes, then tap the face to switch to it."

If you continue to see this behavior, contact Apple Support.

Regards.

Chrisk_85,

Let's use the steps below to make sure that your Apple Watch is all up to date:

Get ready to update

Next, check these things:

1. Make sure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
2. Make sure that your Apple Watch is at least 50 percent charged.
3. Make sure that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi.

Keep your iPhone near your Apple Watch throughout the update. It could take from several minutes to an hour for the update to complete, so you might want to update overnight or wait until you have time.

Update your Apple Watch using your iPhone

You can wait until Apple Watch notifies you when a new update is available. Tap Update Tonight in the notification, then go to your iPhone to confirm that you want to update overnight. At the end of the day, leave your Apple Watch and iPhone charging overnight so the update can complete.

Or you can update your Apple Watch with your iPhone manually:

1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab.
2. Tap General > Software Update.

3. Download the update. If asked for your iPhone passcode or Apple Watch passcode, enter it.
4. Wait for the progress wheel to appear on your Apple Watch. It could take from several minutes to an hour for the update to complete.

Leave your Apple Watch on its charger while the update completes. Don't restart your iPhone or Apple Watch, and don't quit the Apple Watch app. When the update completes, your Apple Watch restarts on its own.

Update directly on your Apple Watch

If your Apple Watch has watchOS 6 or later, you can install updates without your iPhone:

1. Make sure that your watch is connected to Wi-Fi.
2. On your watch, open the Settings app.
3. Tap General > Software Update.
4. Tap Install if a software update is available, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Leave your Apple Watch on its charger while the update completes, and don't restart your Apple Watch. When the update completes, your Apple Watch restarts on its own.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If your Apple Watch is all up to date, let's restart as well: Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Updating and restarting can sometimes help address odd behaviors.

Should that still persist, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support: Contact - Official Apple Support They'd be in the best position to look into this further.

Take care.

Update. Seems like the weather app itself fails to show the "-" in front of the temperature as well.

Three screenshots attached:

First showing the temperature showing correctly in complication (not the modular face)

Second shows the weather app, indicating a current -3 celsius temperature, while coming hours showing temperature without "-" in front.

Third showing the temperature the rest of the day from the iPhone app, clearly minus degrees the rest of the day. So the watch app showing wrong information
