An online video tells you to go to Settings / Notifications / an App / Sounds.
In the video, there's a drop down of all the available sounds. But on my screen, there's only a sliding button. Any ideas?

If you saw the Apple YouTube video, the steps provided there are for Apple apps only. Apple can’t guarantee that all third-party apps will allow you to change the ringtone used. If the app allows you to change the ringtone, you will be able to do it following the steps provided in that video. If it does not, you will not see the option to tap on “Sounds” and see the different options.
