IPhone USB Tethering does not work since upgrade to Ventura

Hello,

I finally found the time today to update my Mac to Ventura.

I tethered my iPhone to my Laptop via USB, but I have no internet connection. The Phone has a 5G connection, Hotspot turned on and in the Network settings on my Laptop it says "Attached" under the iPhone-USB connection, but the "Disable unless needed" option is unchecked.

The Laptop is not connected to any other networks. All other network adapters are deactivated in the Cellular setting on my iPhone i selected "Allow more Data on 5G"


I am running an iPhone 14 Pro Max on ios 16.1 and a Macbook Pro 16 2019 on Ventura 13.0

Hello default404,


When you connect the two, do you "see an alert on your iPhone or iPad that says “Trust This Computer?”" If so, do you select Trust? We see you already confirmed the settings listed at Use an iPhone or iPad to connect your Mac to the internet - Apple Support.


Also, are you able to try connecting the two wirelessly? The steps are shown on that same article. We want to see if it acts any differently.

Similar situation though older devices (iPhone 8 and MB Pro 2017) - and attempting to ONLY use USB tethering for internet access is not functional. I was using these 2 devices prior to the Ventura upgrade without issue. The only way I can have internet access now via those same devices is to use Wifi-based connection to the iPhone as a hotspot. I prefer to use USB-only capability like before the upgrade.


I did force the "Trust" prompt to be re-displayed by using the "Reset Location & Privacy" method - then reconnected and established a trusted relationship again. The situation was still the same.


Any thoughts/suggestions?
