How to edit Keyboard Dictionary words? I only see reset but wanted to edit few words

Somehow my Keyboard Dictionary stored word with incorrect capitalization and it is being used for autocorrect suggestion so I want to edit it. In settings I don't see any options other than reset the whole dictionary which is not desirable.

I tried to search in Safary for proper word but it did not help.

So please advise on the method.

Hey yan2021,

If you prefer not to reset your dictionary, you could set up a text-replacement for that word.

We'd recommend reviewing the information in this article as it explains your options for changing your Auto-Correct settings as well as setting up text replacement options: How to use Auto-Correction and predictive text on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Set up text replacement

  1. With text replacement, you can use shortcuts to replace longer phrases. When you enter the shortcut in a text field, the phrase automatically replaces it. For example, you could type "GM" and "Good morning" would automatically replace it.
  2. To manage text replacement, tap Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement.
  3. To add a text replacement, tap the Add button plus icon, then enter your phrase and shortcut. When you're done, tap Save.
  4. To remove a text replacement, tap Edit, tap the Remove button  then tap Delete. To save your changes, tap Done."

Thanks!

Hi WinC1, Thank you for this suggestion. It works for 1 word I needed to be inserted with correct spelling, but applying phrase shortcut capability to Dictionary correction is a kludge as more words with incorrect spelling get into Keyboard Dictionary the user would have to memorize bunch of meaningless shortcuts which hard to remember. Normal shortcuts are easy to remember because they compress multi-word (and common) phrases not just single word. I understand that it might be difficult to provide direct access to edit Keyboard Dictionary but hope there is indirect way to teach it the correct word by doing Safary search multiple time. Maybe some kind of teaching sequence could be added as a feature?

Hey there yan2021,

Predictive text uses your past conversations, writing style, and even websites you visit in Safari to suggest words or phrases that you might type next. How to use Auto-Correction and predictive text on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch provides this information and more. If you're wanting to enable this feature follow the steps below:

"To turn predictive text off or on, touch and hold the smile emoji  or the globe icon globe iconTap Keyboard Settings, then turn on Predictive. Or go to Settings > General > Keyboard, and turn Predictive on or off."
