Why does printing .pdf fail?
I can print WP documents and other files, but .pdf files fail. A message is given that the "filter," failed. Is there a way to correct this or get around it?

What app are you using to print the pdfs?
One way to find out which filter is failing, then possibly why, is to enable cups debugging in Terminal:
cupsctl --debug-logging
print a job, and then examine the error_log in /var/log/cups.
Searching for "filter" should speed this up, and there should be information there about what filter failed.
You can paste the error here.
Hope this helps.

Yes. The default app to open PDF files is Apple's Preview app. But I'm not sure what you are saying with respect to that file path. I can't tell if you are using Preview to print the file or if the "Preview" is a folder in your Documents folder.
But regardless, the first thing to do is see if you can print from Preview. You may have some strange default settings that can be changed and allow you to print. Or maybe it's something else entirely.
I also can not print any pdf file on Safari. I need to download first then print. Attached ss is in Turkish
What's the name of the menu next to the File menu? If you are selecting File -> Print, you're printing from an application. Preview? Acrobat? Safari?
They won't print because you're getting the "filter failed" message in the proxy, yes? If so, to get to the cause, you need to enable cups debugging so you can see what filter is failing.
If you don't see the Print and Cancel buttons, which is what your last post suggests, is it because it's hidden behind the dock?
What app do you use to open these PDF files? Can you print from that app?
No app is launched to print a pdf. I bring the pdf to the screen from a saved pdf file. Under file I select print. The options screen appears with printer selected but no button to print.
Do the same thing with other printable files like Word file, and I get hard copy out of the printer.
Pdfs will come to the screen, download, and save, but will not print.
The PDF files download automatically, get saved to disk and brought up in Finder and Preview without launching an app. This same process happens with other files that will print.

Desktop > Documents > Preview > File > Print. That is the path to access a saved pdf file. When the print screen comes up it has no button to print. If I go Safari > File > Print, I do get a print button to start printing but the printer stops before printing.
This does not happen with other file types. They print fine. If I convert a .pdf file to a word file it will print.
I cannot print a .pdf file from Preview or Safari.
