What is your OS?

FCP 10.6.5 in Ventura can export directly to H265, and Compressor has been able to export in H265 (a.k.a. HEVC) for quite some time.

I forgot to add: the HEVC options in FCP are under "Apple Devices".

IMHO, nobody is likely to tell the difference, perhaps not even you, the author.

As it is, the videos are always recompressed on the server end, and which version a particular user gets depends on the device, and the network connection.

Not in FCP but you can in Compressor. It has a lot of presets which you can use, or use as starting points by duplicating.

It is sensible to wait it out a little longer. As always, early versions of a new OS can have bugs.

I am running Ventura, and I have no showstopping problems, but there are some issues.

I don't have Photoshop. I use FCP, but not in any professional environment, and I have not done anything heavy since Ventura.

I do have one third party application that I use and has not yet been updated, and fails to run. Fortunately, I could resort to an alternative.

Whatever you do, make sure to always have up to date backups before any such upgrade.

You can also test the waters first by installing on an external drive before commiting fully to the new OS.
