You can't directly "share" or "send" a Numbers document to Notes but you can easily import a Numbers doc into a note in Notes and open it from there.

One way is to just drag the .numbers file from Finder into a Note.

This heading, from the "related article" linked above your post, should shed some light:

Import your notes and files to the Notes app

Take the text files that you created in other apps, and import them into the Notes app.

Then you'll have all of your notes in one convenient place.

Note that the first line specifies "text files."

Although Numbers files may contain text, they are not "text files." You can't 'send them' to Notes for the same reason you cannot 'send a Numbers file to MS Excel.*

Notes (and MS Excel) cannot read files saved in the .numbers format.

Although Notes cannot read or display Numbers files, it can accept and display images, including screen shots of Numbers tables or of other parts of a Numbers Sheet, as seen here:

Whether that image can be 'sent to' Notes, I haven't tried. In the example, both the text (from the linked website) and the Numbers image were copied (one as text, the other as a .pdf file from a screen shot), then pasted into Notes.

Barry

*(Unless you tell Numbers to translate the Numbers file to the .xlsx format used by Excel, and send that MS Excel translation to Excel.)

Thanks for the added information, SG!

I stand corrected.

A Number file, dragged from finder to Notes will be accepted, but not opened by Notes.

Double clicking the file name in Notes will launch Numbers (if necessary) and open and display the Numbers document.

And yes, as suggested by the date, this is an old file, probably created in 2013 to answer another question.

Barry
