Charging case serial number does not match the serial number listed on my settings

Sometimes a replacement item is given, or purchased.

Could be that the case, or one, or both AirPods was replaced at some time.

To check if the AirPods match the settings, the case, or not either.

Find the serial number of your AirPods – Apple Support

If you wish, you can check the serial number(s) online:

Apple has a page where you can enter a serial number to check what info. is available"

ie: to check your service and support coverage,

or

to see if the item(s) are verified (ie: actually came from Apple)
