No. Setting up an Alternate Appearance is not for the second person.

Yes, although setting up an Alternate Appearance is not meant to be used that way. This might be a security risk, if the second person is not trustworthy.
You can add an alternate appearance for a different person, but it isn’t recommended by Apple.
I did that on one of your Family iPhones, so that I didn't have to remember and enter another LockScreen Code, every time I was asked to check or fix an issue.
So which is it? I've gotten a no and a yes.
