It's not abnormal for a Mac to take a day or longer to transfer information. If you conclude it will never finish, just force the Mac to shut down. It may start up with the transfer apparently finished successfully, or some information may have been partially transferred, or it might not start up at all. In any event I'd give it another day or so before giving up.
