Why is the Script Editor stuck in the menu bar?

I tried force quitting the editor, killing the process with Activity Monitor and Terminal, and restarting, but nothing works.

Launch the Script Editor, and in its Settings > General, there is a selection to place the Script menu in the menu bar. Uncheck that entry:

Script Editor idle, with missing features I'm on Ventura 13.1. Previously Monterey 12.2 but updated the OS in hope Script Editor would magically heal itself. I'm trying to do the most basic of apple scripts in MacOS Script Editor Version 2.11 (227). Compile doesn't seem to work. Text stays black and white without regard to the usual formatting. I can't save anything. Can't run anything. And if I go to my Preferences, the "Default Language" is greyed out, so I can't even select AppleScript. Tried to delete a file in my Library called com.apple.ScriptEditor2.plist (as per another google solution). Didn't work. Restarted, didn't work. BUT! Script Editor works on the same iMac when logging in to another user, or even the Guest account. But my personal user won't let me use it. Also noticed on the other accounts, that their version of Script Editor had an AppleScript / Javascript dropdown at the top left. My version does not. What could possibly make it unusable on my account? It's the same Mac! It should really just work though. Any tricks or things to try would be greatly appreciated. See screenshot below. The document stays "untitled" no matter what. Also, I'm notified that "The document could not be autosaved". Notice the lack of that first dropdown that should be left of the "No selected elements" one - which is also empty. Default language greyed out.
