Why is the Script Editor stuck in the menu bar?
I tried force quitting the editor, killing the process with Activity Monitor and Terminal, and restarting, but nothing works.

Launch the Script Editor, and in its Settings > General, there is a selection to place the Script menu in the menu bar. Uncheck that entry:
