Why have system colors changed in OS Monterey?

A previous thread concerned flags in Mail not seeming to be the correct colors, especially yellow. Various answers got into detail about how the system was set up, whether Migration Assistant was used, etc. I have upgraded two MacBook Airs to Monterey, have purchased a Mac Studio preinstalled with Monterey, and bought a reconditioned iMac (2021) preinstalled with Monterey. On every computer, system yellow is very dark and unsaturated - in mail flags, in tags, and in the three buttons at the top left of a window. It looks more like a dull purple.

I solved my own problem. I had "increased contrast" turned on (via accessibility). Turning it off restored normal colors. (It would be great to have both the boosted contrast and the normal colors.)

Good work there 👍

What we the Users want and what Apple makes available are not always on in the same 😔

Though, we can ask Apple via Product Feedback and request a Feature be added. 🤞

These are the colours I am getting on 2 Apple M-Class Apple machines that have been upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey and now Ventura

User by-line indicates Monterey 12.3.

Current version of Monterey is 12.6.1

Current version of Ventura is 13.0.1

Then have a few suggestions ;

1 - Get Support Choose a product and we’ll find you the best solution.Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues .

2 - Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue

3 - Have the computer evaluated by the Professionals who have the Special Hardware / Software and Expertise to diagnose the issue and offer possible solutions
