Not all external drive partitions showing on desktop in Ventura

All partitions of two external drives show up in Disk Utility (two partitions each; 4 partitions total).

"External disks" are set to show in Finder Settings.

But only two partitions (only one from each external drive) appear on the desktop.

Cannot find any Settings nor Preferences which would cause this.

Both external drives had their partitions created at the same time; i.e. no difference between a drive's partitioning process.

Disk Utility DOES see all partitions.

Partitions that DO appear on desktop: one is "APFS Volume", the other is "USB External Physical Volume".

Partitions which do NOT appear on desktop: both are "APFS Data Volume".

Prior to installation of OS 13.0.1 (Ventura), ALL partitions were appearing on the desktop.

In Safe Mode startup in Ventura, the two partitions remain missing from the desktop.

Hey mccrmck,

We'd recommend checking to see if the external drive partitions are in the correct format to be read by your Mac.

You can learn more about that here: File system formats available in Disk Utility on Mac - Apple Support

If that doesn't help, we'd suggest starting your Mac into safe mode to see if the partitions appear there. That would help narrow the issue down further. This article explains how: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Thanks!
