AppleCard VAT Refund Card Number
I’ve attempted on multiple occasions to get a VAT refund for transactions that I’ve used my AppleCard to pay for. A VAT refund requires the card number used during the transaction to be an exact match to the card number filled out on the VAT refund paperwork. AppleCard ApplePay transactions use the Device Card Number to complete the transaction - and the apple wallet has a mechanism to display the last 4 digits of the ApplePay Device Card number… but no way to display all 16 digits used in the transaction — therefore no way to process the actual VAT refund. I’ve seen lots of questions on the sites, but even the Goldman Sachs support team says “there’s no way to get the entire card number” at this time. This seems like a huge oversight — there’s no warning anywhere that VAT refunds can not be processed when the AppleCard is used to pay for a purchase!
Have any other users had success getting a VAT refund with device based (ie., no physical card used) transactions? And if so… what card number did you use?
