Final Cut Pro Won't Import Canon RAW (.crm) Files

Hey Everyone,

I recently shot on an EOS C500 Markii and have been trying to import the .crm files into Final Cut Pro to work with them, but can't seem to get them to import.

I read through a thread from a year or so back and tried everything within that thread, but still nothing. Thus far, here's what I've done:

  • I've updated my OS system (running on Monterey)
  • I've updated my Final Cut (running on 10.6.5)
  • I downloaded the latest Canon plug-in for RAW files with Final Cut Pro (version 2.6)

This should do the trick, because my computer supports Metal, however, when I go to import the files into FCP, they are all grayed out.

My first instinct was to uninstall and re-install the plug-in, and this is where I think the problem lies. When I try to look for the plug-in, it's nowhere to be found. I've followed the path within the Canon instructions, but when I get into the ProApps folder, there isn't the "PlugIns" folder they mention. Yet, when I go to "reinstall" the plugin, it says it's already installed. My thought is that for some reason, the plug-in is saying it's already installed, but either isn't in the right location, or simply isn't installing after all?

Been driving myself nuts trying to figure this out. One hour on the phone with Canon amounted to nothing...

Would love help if you've dealt with this, thank you!

Best,

Alex
