iPhone freezing and restarting after iOS 16.1.1 Update

could you tell me more on how you restored your phone?

I am facing the same issue.

should I do a factory restart?

I heard doing that won’t really fix the issue since it will still upload the 16.2 iOS so the software which has the issue will still be there.

would appreciate your guidance here and detailed steps of how you did the restore since I am facing the same issue and Apple support has been no help.

I am facing the same issue. I have an SE 2. Its so frustrating because I am neither able to update my phone to the 16.2 update nor am I able to backup my data on my PC. The phone just freezes and restarts as soon as I start the update or start to back it up. I don't know what to do. Had gone at the Apple Support Centre, the guy asked me to get my battery replaced which is at 81% battery health. I don't think changing battery is the problem here but I don't seem to find any solution to this.

Thank you for the super helpful advice, my XS max just kept freezing and then restarting and I just couldn’t figure out a way to fix it. Finally got around to try this and it really fixed the issue. I did not get my hopes up but I’m so glad it worked.

I could’t think that the problem to could be anything else than a software issue, my phone worked totally fine like 15-20 minutes before there was another freeze and a restart.

This could be excellent information to have in a regular troubleshooting page from apple straight away. Many are going to get their phone fixed in a store, which is pretty pointless with issues like this where you can easily fix the problem by yourself.

I had the same issue for a week now. All the tricks I could find failed. Both iCloud and iTunes backup (tried both Mac and Windows) failed due to restarting. I brought my phone to Genius Bar and they helped me to force-update IOS to 16.2. Sadly, it didn't fix the problem. Now I just hope my data got backed up. Very disappointed...

i tried to force restart multiple times and checked all of above and it’s not doing anything good. My phone have been restarting for 46 times in the past 24 hours

It can’t be hardware problems, my phone works perfectly fine until I update the system. But thank you for your tips!

thank you for your update! i have been trying to backup my phone the whole day and it failed every time due to the restarting. I guess I need to keep working on it.

Been having this issue too since going to 16 on my XR. Had mine since November ‘19 and had no issues whatsoever until this update and it freezes every 10-15 mines as others say. So frustrating.

do you mean the iTunes app on your Mac book?

if I don’t have an iTunes should I download it?
