how to copy imovie project to external device

I have completed an iMovie project where I used iMovie to create a slideshow of hundreds of .jpg files. I now want to archive this project to an external device. I've already moved all of the .jpg files to the external device and moved the .mov file I created from the project. I can't figure out how to move the project to the external device. None of the examples I have found on the internet have worked, couldn't find anything in this community. One example said that from within the iMovie app I could drag the project to the external device, but I don't see the external device displayed within the iMovie app (see screenshot). I'm stumped. Please help. Thanks.

An iMovie project in editable form must reside in an iMovie library. It cannot be stored independently. So, to store the project elsewhere you must move or copy the library that contains the project. The easiest way is to go to the Movies folder (Finder Menu/Go/Movies). Select the library icon of the library that contains the project. Do an Edit/Copy of the library icon. Open your external drive and do an edit paste of the library into the external drive.

Before doing the above, open iMovie in the library that contains the project and click to select the library's name in the iMovie sidebar. Then do a File/Consolidate Library Media. Also, go the the project browser screen and select the project's icon. Then do a File/Consolidate Project Media. The point of all that is to make sure that the copied library and project contain all of the media that is being used in the project. Simply moving all of your .jpg files to the external device would not guarantee that.

There are other ways to do this, but the above is the concept. For example, you can create a new library, move or copy the project into it, and then Edit/Paste the new library into the external drive. Again, you would first want to do a File/Consolidate Project Media before moving the project to the new library.

Delete the project Nathan Jazz Band from the library that you copied to the external drive. I am assuming that you copied it over, and not moved it over, so that you would still have a copy of the project in the original library on your internal drive.

To delete the project, open iMovie in the copied library the then open the projects browser screen. Move your cursor over the project's icon to reveal a little circle with three dots in it located to the right of the project title. Click on the circle to get a drop down menu that will give you the option to delete the project. Click on Delete Project.

Deleting the project in that fashion will delete the project but the media that was used in the project will still remain in the library. When you delete the project, the media will be put into an Event that bears the project's name. To delete the media in the project delete the Event itself, not just the clips displayed in the event. Be aware that if any of the clips used in Nathan Jazz Band are also used in Nathan Slideshow, they will be deleted from the Nathan Slideshow as well when you delete the Event. It's up to you, but if you don't mind the Jazz Band Clips still remaining in the library, you can just leave them there in the Event. Otherwise, just delete the Event as above mentioned.

Ok, I did everything you suggested in your second paragraph first. Then, using Finder, I successfully copied iMovie Library.imovielibrary to the external device. However, in this library there is another project that I don't want archived to the external device (see original screenshot above). I only need to archive Nathan Slideshow, don't want Nathan Jazz Band archived. How do I do that? Thanks.
