self assigned ip issue with my new tplink deco router

Hi there, Recently I have switched my internet service provider and they have sent me a TPLink Deco X55 router. Now when I connect my mac with the router either using wifi or ethernet cable, it doesn't work and I have no internet connection. When I look at the network setting I can see that it has self assigned some weird IP address to it. I have tried changing them manually but still doesn't connect.

Macbook works fine when I go back to my previous router which is Netgear RX70.

Any idea why this happening and how to resolve? I have done everything I could find on the web and resetting my connections but still doesn't work. Please help.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.0

"self-assigned" IP address is a pseudo-random IP address your Mac gives itself from the range 169.254.xxx.yyy to identify itself on the network after it starts up. it appears every time, but most users have never seen it because it is usually very quickly replaced with a good local DHCP address provided by your Router.

seeing the self-assigned IP address still sitting there tells you, "no Router will talk to me and give me a good local IP address".

Issues are far more likely to be cabling or Internal Router settings than Mac settings.
