What is the "follow up" I am getting on some e-mail I send?

Sometimes I receive my sent e-mail with a header that says "followup". Is my original not being sent? The delays appear about three days after the original was sent.

There is now a preference in Mail Settings under General: Enable Message Follow Up Suggestions...
