If your screen is frozen or unresponsive you need to try and force restart device first by following the steps below.


  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.


If that doesn’t do anything then you can restore your software with a computer. You would place your device in recovery mode and attach it to a computer with iTunes or Finder installed and follow onscreen instructions to restore settings. Warning- this will erase your device and set it up as new. If you restore the software and still run into issues, connect with Apple Support to have your device serviced.
