iPhone IOS 16.1.1 The operation could not be completed input/output error

Hello,

iPhone 13

Software: 16.1.1

I keep trying to have my main computer and Synology drive as a network folder on my iPhone. I set them up through the folders app on the phone and all goes well. When I want to send a image to one of these network folders, it works fine for awhile, but then I get the error message, "The operation could not be completed input/output error". The only way to solve it, I have to reboot the phone and the cycle starts again. Any ideas.

Thank you Jr

Hello gaspowersales,

Thanks for updating us with this information to provide additional clarity on what's occurring.

It sounds like the network connection may be interrupted after some time has passed, so let's see if we can isolate that as being related to the error you see. If you have Wi-Fi Assist enabled on your iPhone, see if disabling this will provide different results. Check out the information below for assistance with that, and you can find more details on this here: About Wi-Fi Assist - Apple Support

Turn Wi-Fi Assist on or off

Wi-Fi Assist is on by default. If you don't want your iOS device to stay connected to the Internet when you have a poor Wi-Fi connection, you can disable Wi-Fi Assist. Go to Settings > Cellular or Settings > Mobile Data. Then scroll down and tap the slider for Wi-Fi Assist.

We hope that's able to help, and feel free to contact Apple Support directly if you need to continue checking into this in more detail.

Have a great day!

Hi Gaspowersales,

We'd like to ensure that the software is not the root cause of the issue. With that being said, we suggest that you update to iOS 16.1.2. Please secure your data with a backup before proceeding: Update your iPhone or iPad

If you continue to experience the same behavior, we recommend that you reach out to Apple directly to help with the issue. You can follow this link to connect with them: Get Support

All the best.

Hello gaspowersales,

This page can help provide assistance for connecting servers/external devices to the iPhone via the Files app: Connect servers or external devices with Files on iPhone - Apple Support

Connect to a computer or file server
1. Tap the More button at the top of the Browse screen.
If you don’t see the More button, tap Browse again.
2. Tap Connect to Server.
3. Enter a local hostname or a network address, then tap Connect.
Tip: After you connect to a computer or file server, it appears in the Recent Servers list on the Connect to Server screen. To connect to a recent server, tap its name.
4. Select how you want to connect:
Guest: You can connect as a Guest user if the shared computer permits guest access.
Registered User: If you select Registered User, enter your user name and password.
5. Tap Next, then select the server volume or shared folder in the Browse screen (under Shared).
To disconnect from the file server, tap the Eject button next to the server in the Browse screen.
For information on how to set up your Mac to share files, see Set up file sharing on Mac in the macOS User Guide.

Cheers.

Hello,

Thank you very much for the reply. I can connect to my server where I want to store images from the iPhone, and it shows in the recent servers. Where the issues comes to play and it random timing, but at some point I get the error in the image. The only way to solve and allow me to save again to that location, is I have to reboot the phone.

Thank you
