pop-up box: profiles/mdm wants to make changes

Yesterday, I started seeing this pop-up box requesting my password - "profiles/mdm wants to make changes." I don't know why it is appearing. If I select cancel, it just reappears 10 minutes later. What is it for and how can I get rid of it? Is it safe to enter my password. Thank you!

Sounds like you either purchased a used Mac or purchased a Mac through a school or business that utilizes an MDM for managing their computers. If the latter, then contact their IT department to have the Mac removed from their MDM. Otherwise, return the Mac if you can since there is no way to remove the management and it indicates the Mac was not properly prepared to be sold. If you are unable to return the Mac, then you can try contacting the organization listed to see if they will remove the Mac from their MDM assuming that Mac was meant to be recycled or sold.
