If I were to mute someone on the phone can they hear the mute sound from their end??????

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.
We're happy to help shed some light on this for you! When you're on a call and press the mute button, the person on the other end of the call will not hear any notification or sound indicating that you have muted the call. If you are in an area with a lot of background noise, however, that noise will cut out when you mute which may indicate that you have muted the call.
