Arrow buttons won’t move cursor (iPad external keyboards)

I have an iPad Air 4th gen. I use a Magic Keyboard and any time I use the arrows, it highlights different boxes or something. It’s almost like pressing alt+tab on a windows pc. That’s the kind of response at least. But it doens’t change the app, just highlights different boxes on the screen. The point is… the arrows don’t work normally to move the cursor. How can I change that setting? I can't figure it out.

Thanks for reaching out jasidok,

It sounds like you're having some trouble using the arrow keys with your Magic Keyboard connected to your iPad Air. We can help.

One possible cause might be if your iPad is set to Use VoiceOver on iPad with an Apple external keyboard. Go ahead and see if you can use that article to adjust your settings to resolve the behavior.

If you are still unable to use the keyboard as normal, you can Contact Apple for support and service to report the behavior.

Hope that helps.

Take care.
