Junk Text Messages / iMessages

When I am suspicious of a text message being spam, I prefer to ask who the person is first before repirting them in the event it is someone I know and I just don’t recognize the number. The issue is, once I reply to them and they answer back, when it is a spam text message, the option to report them has disappeared.

I have read of you long press on the message from the messages list you can click report junk, but I don’t get that option. I only see 4 options on a long press: (1) Pin, (2) Mark as Unread, (3) Hide Alerts, and (4) Delete. (See first attached image)

I have also seen it say scroll to the bottom of the message and click Report Junk, but that too goes away after replying to the message. (See second attached image)

Does anyone know of a way to report a message after you have replied to them to verify their identity?

Hello NDSoccer,

We see you were following the steps from Block, filter, and report messages on iPhone - Apple Support

With the report option having gone, per the article, "If you don’t see the option to report spam or junk messages you receive with SMS or MMS, contact your carrier."

Additionally, you can block them:

  1. In a Messages conversation, tap the name or number at the top of the conversation.
  2. Tap the info button, scroll down, then tap Block this Caller.

Cheers!
