Will wifi diagnostics file(s) be cleared automatically?

I recently ran wifi diagnostics on my Mac (running OS 12.6.1). Diagnostic files are created in /var/tmp folder and I have read that should not me messed with. Restarting Mac doesn’t clear this folder.

Will the files be cleared automatically and when it will happen? Or should I just delete the files manually?

Hey henkkapple,

If you'd like to remove the diagnostics results, you can. You can learn more about that here: Use Wireless Diagnostics on your Mac - Apple Support

"Wireless Diagnostics also generates a compressed file that contains details that may be useful to your network administrator, service provider, or IT support person.

The file is saved in the folder /var/tmp. The filename starts with WirelessDiagnostics and ends with .tar.gz.

To locate the file, click the Finder icon  in the Dock, choose Go > Go to Folder, type /var/tmp, then press the Return key to open the folder that contains the diagnostics file."

You would lose the results of those diagnostics tests but it would not affect anything else on your Mac.

Thanks!
