IPHONE 12 PRO MAX BRICKED

After being on charge overnight, my iPhone is just showing a black screen with a small white cog in the centre. I have tried all the fixes-press the up button then the down button and then the on off button-nothing.

I managed to alert the emergency services by doing this, so my phone works as a phone and was able to speak to them, but no onscreen at all.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

(2)  If the above does not work then - Follow the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ If your iPhone is Non-Responsive or Frozen and see if that helps.

(3)  If that does not help your phone might need service ➔ Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

In your case, it appears to be a random and one off thing. After all, this has just happened and only once. I recommend that you continue on with your plan to give the iPhone 12 Pro Max to your grandson with confidence.

When you are ready to give the iPhone 12 Pro Max to your grandson, then be sure to follow the instructions in this guide published by Apple 👉 What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac - Apple Support

Thanks Axel F. Had to try it multiple times, but it worked eventually.

As an aside, can you perhaps advise. Is this a one off thing, or does it need specialist attention. The reason I ask is I am about to get the 14 pro max and will give my 12 pro max to my grandson.I don't want to unnecessarirly land him with a problem that I can perhaps resolve beforehand.
