Multi monitor setup

Hi everyone,

I have two Studio Display monitors connected to my Mac Studio (M1 Ultra-Ventura). When I first bought it and started it, there was an image on both monitors (One monitor had a password screen and the other had a desktop background). But whatever happened, my second monitor started not displaying anymore. It looks like the photos I've attached below. (There is also light on the black monitor, the monitor is getting power.)

I want the desktop background to appear on both my monitors. I will be grateful if you could help me.

You need to determine if the problem is with that Studio Display or with the Mac Studio.

To do that, unplugging the dark Studio Display and plug it into a different port on the back of the Mac Studio.

If that doesn’t help, try unplugging the working Studio Display and plug the dark Studio Display into the same port where the working Studio Display was.

If not all of the Mac Studio ports are working, try restarting the Mac Studio. If restarting does not get all of the ports working, then you will need to contact Apple Support.

If you find that you have a bad Studio Display, then you will need to contact Apple Support.

This is identical to what happened with my Mac Studio and twin Studio Displays. I contacted Apple; they arranged for a replacement which works fine. Beforehand, be certain that you have the thunderbolt cable plugged into the correct port on the monitor -- only one (closest to the stand) works to connect the display to the Mac Studio.

Notice that my right monitor was also the one with problems. Both were fine, initially. The black screen appeared right after a firmware update for Studio Displays that was successfully applied to the left display. Some have had trouble with firmware updates on these, and I surmise such update trrouble may have affected the second display. In any event, I sent it back to Apple, and they sent me a new one which functions perfectly.

Remember that although CHANGING the FileVault encrypted/decrypted state setting takes under a minute, this only sets up a conversion process that continues for quite a while (all afternoon)

The conversion process continues across restarts and sleeps until every block on the drive has been read in and written out in the other state. Most functions are available as usual while the conversion is in process, but a few (like software installs) may not be. The conversion only make progress when your Mac is not sleeping and not extremely busy.
