I am running TurboTax 2022 (Small Business version, which is the highest level functionality version they have for a Mac) and Ventura 13.2.1 and see no issues.

jschmid5 reports their computer running poorly with TT2022 installed, but also says "I have been using MacKeeper for years and it cleans up junk files, leftovers, etc. I'd run that several times and the computer still slows down after about 15 minutes and I have several applications running (Mail, Safari, TextEdit, Numbers, Messages)."

MacKeeper is one of those "intrusive" programs that places hooks in system files in the user accounts in order to do all kinds of "maintenance" which is probably best left to the MacOS. Programs like this are reported to be "fine" until there is an update or upgrade to the MacOS with which they are incompatible. Another example is CleanMyMac. I have seen people in the Apple Discussions having to erase and format their drives because they could not get rid of these "hooks" any other way. That sounds to me like a cure that is worse than whatever disease they are protecting against.

There are millions of people running TurboTax on Macs, many on Ventura.

MacKeeper claim: "MacKeeper removes viruses, ads, and junk—with 24/7 monitoring for data breaches."

So there are no viruses possible under Ventura, since even the owner of the computer has only read access to the OS. It is in a sealed volume, a snapshot in fact. So how does MacKeeper remove viruses?

It also purports to remove junk, ads and monitor 24/7. That means it is running in the background, always. Some TurboTax users have to establish a secure connection to Intuit's servers to access their encrypted tax returns (are yours encrypted? If so they are on those servers and you need that secure connection ...). Does that secure link have some unique aspect that looks like an "intrusion" to MacKeeper? Also, every time TurboTax runs it checks for updates to the software and to forms. If found they install, without prompting for a user password. So TurboTax is making external links through which it is trying (and normally succeeding) to install things, every time it runs. Does this look like an invader or threat to MacKeeper?

I have no idea if one of these things or something else entirely is causing your problems. If MacKeeper kills some subprocess spawned by TurboTax to do the above things, when TurboTax is closed, what happens? Might some subprocess remains that might otherwise shut down but is still running because its parent subprocess was killed by MacKeeper?

I'm just giving you examples of why installing things like MacKeeper can have unintended consequences. Maybe it is really TurboTax that is to "blame," but on a "clean" Mac (without stuff like MacKeeper or CleanMyMac or ...) TurboTax runs fine, at least in my experience. Intuit actually indicates in its Forum that some anti-virus utilities can interfere with the installation and operation of TurboTax.

What else do you have installed? If you can download and run Etrecheck it will produce an anonymous report that you can post here with the Additional Text button below. People like Old Toad and leroy douglas can inspect it for possible causes.

I'm running Ventura 13.1 and it was running just fine until I downloaded TT2022. Then the computer slowed down to a crawl and flash drives would not mount. I uninstalled TT2022 and and things seem to be back to normal, all the apps start up quickly and flash drives are mounting again. Did you experience anything like this?

The only abnormal with TT 2022 is that it opens rather slowly and entering at an into a form will crash TT unless the form is in a separate window. No other speed issues are noted. I have 5 external SSDs and experience nothing abnormal in their performance.

I haven't gotten to that stage yet so have no first hand knowledge of it. However, you might try booting into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and try to submit from there.

Note:  if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode.  This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will assure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

I bought TT Deluxe for the 2022 tax year and bought it and downloaded it from Best Buy. Not sure about the M1 or M2. In "About this Mac" it says 3.4 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5.

I have found that after I start it up at the beginning of the day, then, before I do anything, do a Restart (not a shut down) then everything seems to run just fine for about half an hour. So, the first thing I do is open the programs I'm going to be using for the day (Mail, Numbers, Messages, TextEdit, Safari, Pages) and everything starts up just fine. Quick, like it should. After about half an hour, if I need to start another program, it takes longer than normal to start up but once started, it seems to run fine. But instead of 2 or 3 bounces of the icon and then the program, the icon bounces and bounces for about half a minute before the program starts. But, again,, once the program is up and running, it seems to run fine.

I have TT Deluxe Federal and State. This will be a bit lengthy but if I could give you the history of what's going on maybe it will help. Several months ago I received an email from TT with the minimum system requirements and the OS I had at the time was a version or two older. I thought no problem, I've updated the OS before with no problem. About a month ago I upgraded to Ventura 13.1 and ran that for a couple of weeks to make sure there were no bugs and everything ran fine, so I installed TT Deluxe and have had nothing but problems since. Everything slowed down to a crawl. I have a third party smart uninstaller so I tried uninstalling TT but that didn't work. I tried several things short of going into the actual machine code but nothing worked so I took the computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they were able to improve, but not completely fix, the performance. It worked fine for about 15 minutes and then everything slowed down to a crawl again. I then saw that there was an upgrade to Ventura 13.2 so I upgraded again hoping that that would fix the problem. Well, that made it worse. After that Mail started crashing immediately upon opening. I tried several suggestions like deleting my email connecting and then reconnecting but that didn't work. Mail still kept crashing. Recently I saw that there was an upgrade to Ventura 13.2.1 so I tried that and now at least Mail is working again but the system still slows down to a crawl after about 15 minutes. The Geek Squad reinstalled TT but I haven't tried running it yet.
